If you don't like LOL Cats, you fail at life!
Reading all of the descriptions of the different mashups on the SPL 2.0 site did not spark my interest. But then I read the wikipedia's definition of a mashup, it mentioned it could also apply to music as well:
The term mashup originally referred to the practice in pop music (notably
hip-hop) of producing a new song by mixing two or more existing pieces.
That said, I highly recommend the Grey Album by DJ Danger Mouse. It perfectly fuses Jay-z's lyrics from the Black Album with the music of the Beatles' White album. Too bad it can't be commerically released. Curse you Apple records.

Whereas I DO totally love the idea of the GRAY ALBUM.....I have to wonder; why do these bling-bling hip hop "artistes" (pun intended, wait..is there a pun intended? I don't know. anyway....) tend to reach back in time, to the GOOD OLD MUSIC, to express their feelings? Do they not have an original idea? Or is it just that the OLD MUSIC STILL ROCKS?!?!?!? LOLOLOL, Beatles Forever, right??
Yeah, it's lazy for hiphop artists to steal from the past. At least 50 Cent is supposedly retiring. That's one down and a thousand to go!
